The connection used to drop sometimes and I got lots of stuttering and freezing with streaming films, but my real problem was with the routers breaking after about a year. The standard router model struck me as very poor quality and I did not want to pay £2 extra a month for a much sturdier-looking model. They would never send me a spare modem so that I could have it in store til the existing one broke. I found the 9am opening time for the phone-in customer helpline rather late. The staff I spoke to were always polite - it wasn't their fault I found this company no that easy to deal with.

Customer service is good. They are helpful and friendly. Easy to understand and knowledgeable. They have given consistent recommendations due to my geographic location ,
it can be very frustrating trying to do anything on the Internet.
Other than the broadband, everything else is great...I am a gold member

When the Wi-Fi works it is very good and strong however sometimes it just switches of and takes ages to turn back on. I would recommend as long as you are patient when it turns off because it happens a lot.

The customer service was good but the speed, reliability and satisfaction isn’t. We first lost our Wi-Fi randomly, we paid all the bills and the light was still the right colour. However it did not work. It takes forever to turn back on and it randomly cuts out, leaving all of our family without Wi-Fi for a long time. This is very slow and annoying especially for people who need the Wi-Fi to work at home or whatever. I think it would be great if it stopped randomly not working without showing any signs to why and the reliability was a lot more trustworthy.

Just taken on Utility Warehouse Ultra + home phone and broadband this week. I received the router within the promised five working days. It was very easy to set up and working within 10 minutes. Am getting speeds of up to 75 download and 18 upload. Signal steady and reliable. Our grandson who likes some hefty gaming is even happy with good strong levels upstairs and down. Very pleased.

Since I have Signed to Utility Warehouse, the Broadand internet has been near enough useless. I never had any problems with Sky and wish I hadn't left them. Utility Warehouse staff try and help but it turns out they gave you a useless router when you first sign up, and you need to upgrade it for a better one for a further £50.00 at your own cost. Fibreoptic is not available in our area.

Based on the below reviews you would think that Utility Warehouse is a poor service. Well I can say that they are fantastic. When I was with Sky on the top broadband, all I got was drop connections as complaints from the family. Since we have switched with them, the change over perfect and I chose their middle broadband with a free standard router. Two of the family work from home all day on the internet, there is no break in sercvice ad we meet our deadlines. In the evenings we have 5 smartphones,2 smart tv's,plus one on chrome and 3 tablets all working great with the router and 3 tplinks. The customer service is fantastic and always eager to resovlve issues efficiently. I can understand why Which has voted Utility Warehouse in March 2018, best broadband of the year. Are we saying that an independent review has got it all wrong? I don't think so, I for one am more than happy and have definitely save a lot of money. Thank you Utility Warehouse.

So UW were supposed to cancel my NowTV when I switched, they didn't, so i ended up getting billed for £100 by NowTV and UW won't take responsibility.

The UW charged me £90 for a secon router they claim i have, which i dont.

The internet didnt work for the first 2 weeks so I was supposed to be getting a £50 credit, they didnt do that either

Currently been on hold for an hour, phone rings twice then its back to hold music.

Unreal. First bill was £240 instead of the £120ish agreed.

Why can no company seem to just honour their word and do exactly what you pay them for, is it that hard?

This broad band is absolutely shocking, I changed to UW broadbands with the promise that it would be faster and cheaper but ever since I changed all I have had is problems, and hoping it would improve I upgraded the internet package I was on and tbh it’s even worse than the lower package, constantly buffering, lagging. I was on my own in my house with only 1-2 devices connected and I was lagging all over the place on my PlayStation, and stuff was really slow on my phone.

Told minimum speed would be 31mb, lucky to get half that. Customer Service trying to fob me off by saying my minimum speed is 13mb, despite what my contract states. Already got 1 complaint in with Ofgem, looks like another will be going in with ofcom. Only been with these clowns 2 months !!

Utility Warehouse have gone down hill fast in my estimation.
We have been with them 18 months now and after such a terrible service in all areas.
The energy and broadband deal we took out we had to take a SIM card at £10 per month to reduce the overall package we have never used this at a cost of £180
We was £40 in credit over a year in Gas and they insisted they reduce the direct debit by 7p a month (yes 7p)
We was £32 in debt with the electric and they increased this by £10 per month.
This was The most craziest thing you could think of.one could compensate The other and still leave us in credit.
They was not prepared to do this ?????
Our gas monthly charge was reduced by 7p and electricity increased by £10 per month.
I think these people need educating in mathematics.
The broadband WiFi has been terrible we have had to buy boosters upstairs.
We have now decided to move as our 18 month contract is up with UW.
They are demanding £102 for the so called FREE light bulbs which was on offer with UW if you took out Broadband and energy on a 18 month contract, they say the light bulbs are not FREE and you have to keep the contract for 2 years ??? This is another big con as the LED bulbs are rubbish I have replaced 9 over the last 12 months.
We definitely will not use UW ever again and definitely will not be recommending a friend to this company as they could become a enemy.

Awful internet in terms of speed and reliability, I've had it since Tuesday and at least twice a day it will drop out and say to check the router - despite the router saying the internet is connected. Half the time it can't even load basic gif pictures. Dial up Internet from the 90's/early 00's is faster and better than this. (Not spoken to customer service which is why I ranked it as average). Avoid at all costs

since having the broadband installed in november 2017 my internet speed with utility warehouse has been shockingly slow. i contacted customer services on numerous occasions altogether they have said:
i should upgrade to fibre, which i did and still the same problem.
offered a better router for £20+.
they tried changing the channels and resetting the router on their side and still the same problem.
eventually sent out another router which is the sameone and still the same problem.
they said it could be that becuase im living in a flat i could be picking up interference. bear in mind there is only one other flat above me and there hardly ever in.
they said my router could be two far away which it isn't as it's roughly 7-10 ft away if that from all the things i use internet for.
then they tried selling me a better router for around £70+ but for £1 a month i could have it, bear in mind the last one they tried selling was only £20+ . no chance i told them as i've been having this problem for nearly a year and for £1 a month as a gesture of goodwill they could provide one as the amount of money and time i have wasted and don't get me started on the gas supplies with them :-(. take some good advise and stay well away from UTLILTY WAREHOUSE.
stick to bt, talktalk, sky, even plus net as they all semmed better over the years.
    good luck.

It doesn't help if broadband is lost at the weekend that customer service is closed. Broadband does not always fail during business hours. Not impressed.

I've been most unsatisfied with Utilities Warehouse. Our energy bills doubled after having a smart meter fitted with no explaination as to why there was such an increase and the reliability of our broadband was shocking so we had to change provider and Utilities Warehouse are still trying to get more money out of us for cancelling the service. Shocking.

Been with UW since 2008 and they were a revelation back then and still are in my opinion.
Electricity is cheapest in the UK (check any price comparison site to see if you can find a cheaper price) and the free LED light bulbs is a genuine one - we had 115 lightbulbs installed at no cost in 2019 and if they break (and they do) free replacements are sent out within a day or two.
We can't get gas as we're out in the wilderness. Their mobiles are fine as they piggyback on O2 network.
The cash back card is brilliant - usually knocks £30-£40 per month off my utility bill.
Broadband is great - typically 32Mb download despite being miles from anywhere.
I'm really surprised to read of so many problems people have had with UW as my experience has been great.
The problems others have found with their broadband may be due to a few reasons that I can think of.
    1. UW having to use BT/Openreach equipment in the exchange local to the customer. If the local exchange is LLU (local loop unbundled) then that means UW and other providers can put their equipment into the exchange. If it's not LLU then every provider is stuck with BT equipment. You can check this on www.Samknows.com
Certainly when we swapped from BT to UW in 2008 our broadband speed jumped by more than 50% overnight as it was UW kit in the exchange.
    2. The second problem (my parents had this) was 'contention ratio' which is how many homes and businesses are connected to the internet at the local exchange and many people are using internet enabled devices in each of these homes and businesses. Think about how many new housing estates have been built nearby and how many kids there are all with games consoles, streaming Netflix, Spotify and so on. My parents orifginal broadband would be about 4Mb during the day then when the kids came home from school it was unusable at maybe 0.2Mb. Not UWs fault - it was a 100% BT/Openreach exchange and was not LLU so UW (and all other providers) had to use BT/ Openreach equipment and could do nothing about it.
    3. The last problem I can think of (we had this when we lived in Worcester and wanted to upgrade to fibre) could be that all high speed connections in the local exchange (or the green BT cabinet nearby) may already be taken in which case there is no additional capacity.
I'm not a telecomms engineer so no expert but I have had great service and reliability, cheap prices and can't see myself ever moving away from UW. I'm just sorry to hear so many people haven't had the great experience I've had.

We’ve had intermittent broadband connection for months now and we’re supposed to have the fastest fibre optic broadband going. That’s not to mention the double in price of our utilities bills since a smart meter was fitted. Feel totally ripped off by then.

From beginning the broadband services was excellent but recently I returned the two eero to them still sit in the boxes for one whole year, never been open and been charged for entire time.
I decided to send them back, after UW received them and since then my broadband connection non stop dropping. A very disappointing with their absolute disgusting services.
I will then back to BT which I'm happy to pay for.

Absolute scandal of a company. Have just left them and they are trying to bill me for another full month of services that I no longer have provision or contract or services for. They have also tried to add a £10 disconnection fee! Absolute scandal, they are child of TalkTalk so no wonder they are a nasty evil provider who do not believe in letting customers leaving and will do anything it takes to grab extra money off you. Best advice - never sign up to them in the first place - thieves and scoundrels.

Horrible WiFi connection, can barely stream a video at 114p resolution (no exaggeration) and I end up using my hotspot 90% of the time. Customer service keeps making excuses saying they are using copper wires and promised to upgrade to fibre optic but the broadband is still the same old rubbish. Who is still using copper wires? Waste of money and a scam.

Terrible service all round with Utilities Warehouse. As well as Energy problems I have been waiting over a month for the internet. The initial set up was cancelled without my permission and without telling by their Customer Services. I have not received an apology for this. Instead of fast tracking my internet set up I had to restart the process again.Every phone call has a 10 minute minimum waiting time and the communication between their different departments is poor - each department seems to operate separately. I have escalated my complaints but have never received a response from the company.

Do not sign up with this company. We have had nothing more than problems with our broadband service since joining in November. Our connectivity with Sky prior to this was excellent but thought we could save money by combining our energy bills and broadband with one company. An engineer from BT Outreach has confirmed the problem is with the router and he receives numerous complaints from UW customers with the same issues as ours. The customer service team at UW have been extremely unhelpful so far. Why in 2019 have this company been allowed to get away with this. I hope the company can be investigated and save any others from the stress we have endured

I joined this company nearly 5 years ago on a recommendation and readIng some of these reviews baffles me. They seem to be describing a different company!
Ive experienced no issues whatsoever and even if I do have any questions or need any help, I have the details of a personal rep (The person who signed me up) who has helped me even with things like plugging my router in, helping with my mobile & my tv & other things whenever I need it. What other company gives you that level of support?
For me its been the BEST switch I have ever made. I have recommended this company myself and as a resutl received a thank you from the company in the form of £50 off my next bill - that’s huge. So a massive thumbs up from me
BTW the LED lights are A brilliant Service & I was told quite clearly that the cost if I leave or drop a service is £2p bulb after 18 months and NO CHARGE after 2 years & only there to protect themselves as a lot of time and effort goes into supplying and fitting them for us. I live in a five bed detached house and had 102 bulbs which were all replaced for me so I didn’t have to climb up and down ladders and fiddle with fittings. I can’t fault the service. I think it’s a brilliant company and the service on the phone is so gentle and helpful. I can’t understand where the negative reports are coming from.
As for costs my bills have come down with anything overtime and the bills are so clear to understand. I really cannot understand these charges have been mentioned unless there’s never been a meter reading submitted. I have a smart meter and find it brilliant my bills are always so accurate.
I’d highly recommend this company to anybody with great confidence. It’s so good to have everything on one bill so I never need to waste time thinking about my boring utility bills

I couldn't understand my bills. I have just paid my final one and had to ring up because I hadn't a clue. I still don't understand what he was going on about something about paying my bills two months afterwards. So grateful to not be with them anymore.

Disgusting service, broadband down a few times per day, apparently not fixable, speed like in 90' even though we are paying for super fast BB. Smart meter not working, they expect asolution withinh a year. An absolute disgrace

Our Household have been with UW for nearly 3 years now, and I am not satisfied. They have sorted phone problems a few times, but the bill payers are regularly stung with unexpectedly high bills, which are not itemized or adequately explained. All they can do is promise a temporary reduction, followed by a later Hike in Bills.

The internet is terrible. Regularly freezing and cutting out. Just today we were fitted their shiny new Router, and so far no fewer that two apps on our Smart TV have stopped working. BBC IPlayer won't load at all and ITVPlayer cuts out in the Middle of programmes and won't reload.

All I can assume is that the router cannot cope even with basic streaming. Dread to think what it will be like with Amazon video.

Mostly very happy with UW. Our Broadband speed is diabolical, but so is everyone's around here, reliability is not so hot either. Website is a bit annoying, very often have to put my password in several times before getting through. I dont compare prices, but depend on UW to keep them as low as possible, and I think they do. I get all my utilities from them and am very happy at the present time.
