I'm so disgusted with origin broadband. I have called in 7-8 times in the last 6 weeks of being with origin, as every few days my broadband disconnects. They also told me my monthly payments would be £17 but they take £36. I would not recommend anyone joins this company. Each time I have called in I spend minimum 1 hour on the phone. Terrible I'm shocked by service of this company.

My experience with the Original Broadband has been horrible to say the least, I can't describe how many vulgar, arrogant and rude people I met in their chat bot. I ordered by phone around September 25, 2020 and waited for them to connect me for a month, when they finally connected me, the internet was terrible, unstable and I didn't really have internet in the living room because the Operarich socket in my property is in the small bedroom upstairs. I corresponded to return the router and cancel under the 2014 law for goods and services ordered remotely. They told me there was no problem and I returned the router by royal mail, not owing a fee as I had already paid initial payment on the date of ordering and paid £ 22.99 for a real three days on the horrible internet.
I thought we separated as civilized people, but on 14.01,2021 I received an email for a final bill of £ 413.82 payable over a seven-day period for an 18-month contract, and I have no contract either by post or e-mail. Now the saga continues with a complaint and if necessary I will file a lawsuit against the dishonest Internet trader. Be careful, absolutely not recommend them never evar with them.

Do not use this service unless you want to spend your life on hold. Appalling customer service. They answer the phone for sales, but not for anything else. I have no faith in them.

We struggled on with Origin Braodband for 6 months before finally cutting our loses and giving up. Slow speeds, poor reliability, seemingly on desire to improve matters. To cap it all, 2 months after my 12 month up front line rental ended I became aware that they were still charging me for line rental. They refused to refund me claiming I had never informed them I was ending line rental!

Signed up in November 2016, took the option to pay for the year upfront, problems from day one which lasted a full 10 months, broadband dropping almost every hour, called their customer services to sit on teh phone up to an hour and then get no where. broke their terms and conditions for not providing their advertised service so left, got a refund of £50 for 10 months of appaling service. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID.

What an absolute joke - the internet is so slow I can’t get anything done, it is quicker to go to a cafe with free internet than try use this crap. It always conks out and customer service is the worst I’ve come across, after half an hour on hold they essentially say they can’t help with anything (without even hearing the problem) and hang up. DO NOT GET ORIGIN BROADBAND

    DON't work with this provider.
real fraud! never been able to connect their service and not letting the other provider to take over the line. Have scheduled a technician twice and he has never shown up. and they say they have 48 DAYS to fix their issues otherwise we have no rights to leave them. we've been without home internet for two months and still uncertain what is going to happen.

Sitting on hold for the third time in the last month typical wait is about an hour. Again no broadband connection drop out everyday! Speed advertised 16 I'm getting 2.7 if I'm lucky and the keep saying that's as fast as anyone will be able to provide I don't beleave a word of it. Spoke to my neighbors who have no issues with other providers. Signed up for a year in advance and am now on hold to get my money back! Do not use them recommended to me via martins money tips so even more disappointed that they would recommend this company

This is the 4th review I wrote due to origin not liking what I'm saying about their company because the truth hurts . Avoid at all cost . No Internet for over 46 days no help or compensation..... that had the cheek to say if I wanted to cancel to go elsewhere they was demanding over £300 . In the end spent a total of 9 days ringing them 16emails and over 30 hour on live chat for them not to fix the issue and still on going . Now seeking legal advice. Avoid at all cost or just throw your money down the drain now

I really can't emphasis enough how awful Orign's service has been. It's increasingly inconsistent, dropping to below 300kb for days at a time (advertised as up to 17mb) and even just not working on and off over the course for several months.

They also claim 24 hour support, but my average wait time would be well over an hour every time (of which there were a lot).

For some reason, theybalso couldn't sort out the billing, which I had to call them about three times - can setting up a direct debut really be that hard?!

    Avoid like the plague.

    1. 6 weeks for activation
    2. Poor customer service

Ordered on 14th October. Told would take 3 weeks to activate and engineer wouldn't need to access property.

Didn't activate on said day. Rang Customer Service next day - on hold for 1 hour, then line cuts off. Finally get through, I am told the date for activation has been pushed back to 21 Nov for "unexpected delays".

6 weeks for activation is unacceptable. Also no prior notification of delay. Customer service that was a nightmare to get hold of and then couldn't provide any information on the cause of the delay.

Awful experience from this company both from a technical viewpoint and from a customer services perspective...

Regular drop outs and drops in speed to unusable levels, 1 year into an 18 month contract and I am counting the days as they wont let me leave without penalty.

Had a different router, been plugged into the test port I don't know how many times, had an engineer out all after spending hours on the phone to 1st line being asked to turn it off and then back on again (I work in IT so I have been really patient with them but really!!!).

They are now replying to emails when 10 days have elapsed essentially asking "is it still broke". I have a formal complaint in place to try and get a deadlock letter so I can go to ofcom.

BTW before I moved my fibre connection to Origin I was with BT and didn't have a single drop out the whole year. In the last year I've had about 4 or 5 most days, sometimes being lucky and just getting a couple.

At beginning of June my internet disappeared - just thought it was usual(!) drop-out - 2 days later realised no phone-line either - after the usual 40 minutes wait using my mobile, they
investigated and said my line was 'slammed' by another provider. They would try to get it back and ring me straight back.
After 4 days of no contact, had to endure another 40 minute wait on my mobile, to be told they're still dealing with problem.
6 days later of no contact from them, another 40 minutes on my mobile. Hurrah, that day they were reconnecting me. Sure enough both internet and phone line appeared.
I asked for credit on my bill and they granted a reluctant £6 FROM the time I had reported problem TO THEM.
Towards end of month I realised I'd not had an inbound phone-call.
Rang my own number from mobile and received engaged signal!
Another 40 minutes (standard wait?) call, although from land-line this time.
TO BE TOLD MY PHONE NUMBER HAD BEEN CHANGED.
    WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE.

It would take too long to express just how awful this company is IN ALL RESPECTS.

I have had origin since the start of the year, started off ok. nothing more. but it has got so bad of late. i have got 3 spare routers in the house, along with the one sent out from Origin, and none of them work on some days.

its an absolute joke, they never take a direct debit payment on time. i questioned it one time, and they just said it will come out when it comes out.

it isn't often you are happy to pay to get rid of a service. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

I switch ISPs quite often to find good deals, and Origin Broadband seemed like it would be a decent provider for a reasonable price, but I was very very wrong, the connection cuts out several times a week while I am using it, and there are very frequent slowdowns. The speed I sometimes get is more like 56k than broadband. The quality of their broadband seems to have taken a very sharp dive earlier this year and now this is a company to steer clear of at any cost.

The worst customer service, the worst bandwidth speed - just the worst supplier I have had to deal with. Do NOT use them for your broadband.

Setting up was painful - I provided all of my banking details online, but they could not take the first payment because they lost my sort code number. I had to highlight this to them as they did not inform me and I only noticed that they did not take my payment out of my bank. For the first month, as I set it up on the 2nd February, I had to pay the full price - not my promised discounted price for the first 12month contract. I admit that this is in the fine print that I should've read, but sue me - I skim-read and prioritised finalising moving house.

I then moved house into a temporary property that already had an internet provider, before the end of contract was due. I called and emailed but did not recieve any response until a few weeks later (after I moved out of my previous property) I cancelled my direct debit as I did not want to be charged unecessarily for broadband that I was not officially using.

The email I recieved from their Debt Recovery Team then highlighted the costs that I still had remaining to pay. During our back on forth via email, they were not forthcoming with details about how to pay these charges or how to return their special router that did not originally arrive for 2weeks. The kicker of paying £5+ for the return of their router further cemented to me that Origin Broadband was the worst mistake in choosing them as my broadband supplier.

I had an origin broadband For more that 2 years. Initially I had an 18 months contract. I moved my house after 1 year and they told me that they will offer me a new 18 months contract which I took. I moved again after another year. They gave me the same offer which I accepted initially. After a few days ( wWithin the 2 weeks cooling period of the new contact) I asked to stay on my contract and complete 18 months as I wanted to switch to a different provider. I was told no, the old contract is cancelled and I have to complete 18 months with the new contract. Their website says that if moving house there is a 29 pounds fee which I offered to pay. I was told that they don't do this and if I move I have to start a new 18 months contract so as they can recoup their costs. I can't move on the old contract which is basically false advertisement. My only options are to complete 18 months or pay the left over 6 months (170 pounds) from the old contract. But I can't finish my old contract in a new address as per their words " that is not how to run a buisiness". As far as I'm concerned, this is how you run a scam.

Really awfull, poor performance 3gbps at best, took the deal via top cashback and not paid after a year, 90 mins on phone to get cut off and start again, duplicate payments, and customer service is shoddy, "not my issue" seems to be the phrase used most commonly.

Great provider, if you like lots and lots of downtime and enjoy slow internet. Half the time it barely hits 1mbps, when my previous provider Sky was consistently 8mbps. Origin may look like good value, but the reliability is so awful that I've spent more than enough on extra data to use my mobile as a hotspot during downtime to make this the most expensive internet provider choice I've ever made. Truly awful

If you cancel after you go live the cancellation fee would be the remainder of the contract
Me : what would the cancellation fee be then?

    The worse supplier ever
I would not recommend this company to my worse enemy
Rite from the start super slow service
    Tech support unable to help
Customer service not willing to help
No point Emailing all you get it thanks for your email with no questions answered

The main reason is the internet is brought thought talk talk
The company refused to own up to the problem but happy to take my money
Getting that back is like getting blood from a stone

3 months down the line I am still waiting for my refund

I would give zero stars if I could!!! Broadband has been slow and continuously drops in an evening. Over 6 calls made, waiting time to speak to anyone is minimum 20 mins! Then get to,d there is an issue which BT are fixing, advisors refuse to take your details to make a formal complaint, they state they have too many calls to deal with and short staff.
I will continue to complain and go to ofcom!!

6 Days since my go live date (with their 1st router a day late)

    Positives:

The staff are friendly and I feel sorry for them, I do hope their next job is better than what they're doing now - seems horrible.

    Negatives:

    Where do I start?
The connection is slow when it's not experiencing random chap errors.

I'm on my 2nd DSL-N16 with no change in performance or issues.

I'm currently on my old ISP hardware as it seems fractionally better.

Customer service's system cut's you off when on hold and the voip/headsets they use seem troublesome half the time.

To book an engineer out to have the line checked took 7 phone calls spanning over 4 hours, however I've not been given a date or had anything confirmed yet - they've stated 48 hours but I'm not holding my breath.

I specified a static IP which they've provisioned twice and lost twice so far - I'm awaiting their third attempt.

My advice to you is to steer clear of Origin at all costs - the service and support capabilities appear thin on the ground and strained at best. The support analysts are brilliant and are helpful when they can be, with the only issue of the infrastructure at their disposal and the occasional faffing off.

Regretting every second since I moved from a previous provided to OB. Call answering times on my account average 1 hr 45 mins. Recently I was without internet for several days [OB fault] and it was a total nightmare trying to resolve matters. I had to add on extra data to my iPhone to maintain connection to business customers.

Some call handlers seem to know what they are talking about, others not and on one occasion it was clear that calls were being outsourced to another company.

In my opinion, the operation of OB is akin to a new company setting up business from a spare bedroom. They do not in my opinion have the capacity, capability or knowledge to actually deliver what they promise.

Trust me, I will be with another provider as soon as my contract is up.

OB - listen hard to what people are saying or I fear you will be no more.

Absolute joke from start to...well now. In the 6 months or so since I moved my 77 year old mum across to Origin every single thing has been an issue, I won't list them, as I really mean every single thing. Do not use this company!
