Absolutely dreadful service during the duration of my contract. When I finally decided to cancel my service (well after my contract had expired, the price had gone up by 20% in two months and the quality of service had decreased to the point of being almost unusable) I found it extremely difficult to be connected to any customer service representative (you are told there's no one free if you specify you are calling to cancel, but are connected immediately if you specify another reason).
When you express your desire to cancel you are being forced to pay additional bills for services you are not using and the representatives can't give a reason as to why they need a whole month to disconnect you, instead resolving to pointless technobabble that aims to confuse less knowledgeable clients.
Avoid at all costs, anything is better than TalkTalk (choosing another provider also comes with less chance of getting your personal information stolen).

Do Not get into BT, Sky or TalkTalk! trust me i've had these and honestly people these companies are a huge fraud, no matter if you get normal broadband or fibre their speed hardly gets to 3mb/s in day time, actually it hardly gets to more than 500kb/s! to be specific, extremely slow, cant even watch a 30 min video not hd without having to pause it every 3 mins! after 12 months the price is automaticly doubled, really bad customer service and they do everything to keep you with the company trying to tell you rubbish, these three are the biggest frauds in the uk! Their connection drops constantly no matter how many times you follow the instructions and I live close to the main connection ... Save yourself some trouble and annoyance, Don't let yourself be one of many many victims of them three most rubbish and pathetic companies in the uk, be wise, CHOOSE EITHER PLUSNET, NOWTV, OR EE and have no problems at all.

I have been with Talk Talk for years and would expect a prompt customer loyalty service but NO!I struggling financially and had to call to cut down some of my package add ons to have an affordable bill. I opted to pay for the £4.50 admin fee monthly so as to avoid the direct debit charges if the payment does not go through. I found out Talk talk suddenly added a £10 fee they dubbed'late payment fee'. My bill is now higher than what is should be and I cannot even afford the payments when due so I am stuck in a rat race of £10 extra to my bill every month. I have made several calls to get that charge removed but no headway made.I am being tossed from one service desks in India to Indonesia help desks. I am absolutely livid with rage.

On the 17th of July I had to turn off my WiFi at 11:00pm because it wasn’t working on my phone and I was in bed. I didn’t have any problems until I went to bed and I need to watch something in bed or I won’t sleep and I can’t because it doesn’t work properly.

they had an error i did not receive working broad band, the are putting 50 pounds charge on every month for engineer ive never wanted or asked for in my house and hes not been in apart from first time after i reiterated that i did not want one in my house and that i was qualified enough to know the problem was external.....after a long drawn out discussion in which they left me on hold and even hung up on numerous times they decided to wave the 50 pound and refund me for loss of service....since then they have put 50 pounds on my account 2 times and they are changing direct debit dates and amounts to their benefit every month ...this is getting really bad and they have not resolved this after telling me twice it would be and claiming my bill will be reduced for next 3 or 4 month they have not done it .....only adjustment they seem to be managing is adding this 50 pounds every month......im really shocked at how much lies and fobbing off they have tried after excepting their mistake 3 times they continue to try and extort money from an engineer i never requested or had and for a shoddy service instead of refunding me my credit as they claimed they would .....they now say we will log a complaint, this is just more fobbing off i suspect , i would leave them but they are due me a lot of money for the service they never supplied....that being phone and broadband , in all my years ive never dealt with a worse customer support team for lies and time wasting ......they have no customer support team , they are beyond a joke , useless company and employees ......as soon as i get refunded i will be heading for the hills. talktalk are crooks without question

This review is about broadband speed.
I am a gamer and I wanted to give talktalk broadband a try. When I finished setting up my broadband I went on youtube only to find out that it keeps buffering, this happens everytime someone uses the internet. My point is that the speed and bandwidth are below minimum. 300 kilobytes per second, as a gamer's point of view that is pretty frustrating. I dont really care about the tv pakage cause I dont watch tv a lot. When I play my games on my computer I cant online multiplayer cause of slow speed. the customer service is absolutly s***. I wouldnt recommend talktalk to any friends on even strangers to be honest. Im now stuck with talk talk for 18 months now and it seems like im gonna have the worst time playing games.
Overall I give talktalk (broadband, tv, phone, customer service) -5 stars

After being with Talk Talk for many years I am appalled by their broadband speed now it's awful so slow, drops out all the time so frustrating, after my contact finished in October my bill went from £25.00 a month to £47.00 a month for the same appalling service. Any written confirmation of my new charges or even an email.... Not a chance! In your terms and conditions from 18 months ago in the small print....Disgusted by their service and customer approach feel I have been ripped off ...would NEVER go back to then again....poor show Talk Talk . AVOID don't get taken in by the cheaper prices its not a good deal when they don't provide what they promised and then leave you high and dry! Mask and pistol comes to mind...down right legal robbery.

Terrible service. Never give them your number otherwise they will call you everyday. I've been getting calls for weeks and they are so rude when you tell them you aren't interested in their services and try to convince you until you get so annoyed you just hang up. Such mean and rude people. Really stupid cuz I'm not happy with my broadband from another company and would have considered switching if they weren't so intense and mean.

For anyone who is thinking of taking up the offer of Fibre To The Premises - let me share my experience of incompetence and unacceptable customer support from Talktalk.
In November 2023 I signed up to Talktalk full fibre 150 with VoIP - The initial, agreed, FTTP installation had to be rescheduled due to TT failing to dispatch the necessary new router in time. On the new day of installation, it was discovered that TT had not included the Digital Voice Adaptor, which is needed to provide access to VoIP for my house telephone. TT assured me that one would be expedited - it took 5 days to arrive, during which, we had no home telephone connection.
After two days of good Internet, and telephone operation, our telephone connection
developed a fault - we could neither make nor receive calls.
Throught December 23, I spent numerous (unsuccess) frustrating hours on online text chat, and telephone conversations, with different TT support staff members, with promises to log the ongoing fault for further investigation. I was promised follow up calls, from Managers, and a new router - none of which ever materialised.
The TT staff I interfaced with were polite and friendly - but, incompetent. Because when I finally connected to someone who knew what they were doing, the problem was fixed within minutes.
Bottom line is - we were without a telephone for much of December 23.
I have been a Talk talk customer for several years - but, this experience has left me totally disenchanted with them.

We use the broadband speed tester regularly and our broadband has been getting slower over the last year. We are now unable to watch BBC iplayer and Netflix at certain times of day. Xbox game updates an take several days in comparison with a few hours for friends who live less than a mile away.

Migration & corruption to my emails - it's getting worse
The migration and corruption problems were first reported five years ago. Since May, TalkTalk's Technical Support department have issued four incident reports, all concerning the same faults. In arbitrary fashion the reports are closed. The faults are getting worse.
A brief history follows. I've been with Tiscali/TalkTalk for over 11 fraught years. It took 3 years to get non dial-up Broadband when all the BT customers in my village were ‘enjoying’ a Broadband service. I had to use my MP, Ofcom and CISAS to receive Tiscali Broadband - a delay that cost me a lot of money. At present - for the £20 a month I pay for Broadband - I get 5Mb download speed max if I'm lucky and work at nights; I'm plagued by poor upload speeds, bandwidth restrictions and loss of connectivity issues which are exacerbated during office hours. These cost me sleep, time and more money. Fibre super-fast broadband is a non-starter because I'm on an Exchange Only line. I live in Collieston, centre of the Energetica development corridor 15 miles north of the oil capital of Europe, Aberdeen. Trump International’s golf resort 5 miles to the south gets 20Mb+, my mole there tells me. Pittenweem, a fishing village in Fife of comparable size to Collieston, receives 65Mb.
When TalkTalk took over Tiscali the problems escalated - migration, outage & corruption, continuing to this day. To try to solve the problems, TalkTalk forced me to take out a fourth email address, making my dog Riley the account’s administrator! This and my wife's email address appear on MyAccount, but the other two do not. It is these two email addresses that cause most of the grief. It's a miracle anything is sent or received, more of which later. As a journalist and researcher I keep comprehensive records. I'll list the faults below. The lists are by no means exhaustive, but all details and dealings will be fully collated in due course, if necessary.
I can't move any emails into folders - or anywhere else - without refreshing the page every time. This is time-consuming and frustrating; deleting cache history doesn't help. Emails from Hotmail accounts fail to get through; reporting Spam results in the offending emails going to Trash (the spam continues). 40+ Google Alerts daily go straight into Trash instead of my Inbox. Attachments often won't open - I access them via downloads, or copy emails to gmail. Yesterday I tested all four email addresses by sending emails from each to the other. Not one of 6 emails has arrived: I am getting reports from customers and contacts that some of my emails have not been getting through recently and I have not received their mail. Since TalkTalk have no record of these two email addresses, to replicate the problems I gave the passwords to Technical Support. They can't replicate the faults at their end so they close the incident report. I have 29 texts sitting on my mobile for four faults all detailing the same problems since May 11th. I can't afford to go to India to enjoy a fault-free TalkTalk email service. I can't change my passwords, so the integrity of all my email data is now compromised.
To change ISP is but a distant dream. I should have done so years ago, but these email addresses are embedded in website architecture, advertisements and log-in/ password details to such an extent that changing them would be a logistical nightmare. Not to mentuiion the 2000 business cards handed out over the past decade.
Whatever I use to access my emails (Mac, PC, laptop, different browsers, my wife's oil company system, Aberdeen University) makes no difference, and I haven't changed any settings.
Over the past decade I have documented and logged contact with the following TalkTalk departments and other agencies in attempts to solve any of the issues, but TalkTalk’s customer service and overall response goes from bad to appalling.
TalkTalk departments contacted - CEO's office, Public Relations, Loyalty, Technical Support, Customer Services and more
Other agencies; MPs, MSPs, OFCOM, CISAS, Trading Standards, forums - Trustpilot, TalkTalk Community and others..
I am now about to go to the Alternative Disputes Resolution Scheme or the Ombudsmans Services Commissioner. Or both, I’ve had enough. I've already written to the Communications Ombudsman. Every day that passes without these faults getting fixed will be a day when I’ll unleash this document on more forums and relevant sites, and contact various agencies and officials. I have a meeting this month with Aberdeen Trading Standards Office who are advising me make a Small Claims Court Action against TalkTalk under the 1982 Supply of Goods Act. Since TalkTalk has already been awarded the 'worst ISP provider in Britain' accolade, I don't suppose that any of this bothers them. If I ran my businesses like TalkTalk operates, we wouldn't be having any correspondence, because I'd be bankrupt and out of business long ago.
This is an edited version of my last letter to TalkTalk sent on 4.8.2015. It seems to be impossible to email the company. In addition this precis has been posted on TalkTalk Community, Trustpilot and other forums.

Great for the contract period. After that, dumped onto a high cost tariff. So much for a Company rewarding loyalty. Decided to shift provider. Talktalk had no joined up thinking to a person switching. Only ONE interest, get cash in from the customer. Relentless pressure to pay. Left with a very sour taste to their service. If they had moved me onto a reasonable tariff, I'd i've stayed. But, simply treated with contempt. Stuff you, and I'd never recommend you.

The telephone service is excellent, with very good rates for home, overseas and mobile calls but the broadband is terrible and has got worse since TalkTalk announced they were 'improving' it. The download speed (0.9mbs) is possibly the worst in the country. When I complained to TalkTalk last year they sent an engineer to check my equipment (for which they charged me,)gave me a new Router but said all the problem was down to BT, who had promised to improve things by 2017. Who do I believe?

Ordered new service on 30th June 2015 for advertised Fibre Plus as it was available in postcode. obviously I was aware BT Openreach would have to do line which was booked 10 days later. Happy so far. then received notification that BT needed to survey. House had a telephone line before we bought it. then nothing since unless I call talk talk. every week I call then and no one is able to update me on progress. 24th August is the latest date...over 50 days have passed. If not on 24th then I will dump them. useless

Almost entirely useless customer service, incompetent, ignorant, one month to get phone/online sorted, 0.3mbps speed (YES NOUGHT POINT THREE! average for UK is 28.9mbps), price rise less than one month into account. You get the picture?

Echoing what everyone here seems to be saying. I had a workman cut through the line coming in to the property. I reported it. After 5 days I saw a BT engineer (he'd arrived 3 days previously without anybody telling me that there had been an appointment made so I wasn't there). I made another appointment, BT weren't told - I waited in for 5 hours. I made another appointment, BT arrived (after another 5 hour wait). BT refused to fix the line while there was scaffolding. 5 weeks has now passed, scaffolding is now gone and I'm back to square one where TalkTalk are checking the line. The website helpfully tells me to turn off my router for a few seconds - as if that will magically go outside the house and join the two bits of wire together. The worst thing is that you cannot deal directly with BT Openzone who are the ones who have to sort the problem out. Talking to TalkTalk is like having root canal surgery without anaesthetic - only it takes longer.

Very poor slow download speed. Three people in our road have transferred away from Talktalk to BT and their broadband speed has improved enormously, but mine has diminished accordingly. It seems that Talktalk are not given enough bandwidth by BT to supply the needs of their customers.

I got an out standing balance of £10 on final bill which I wasnt informed off found out 3 months later and they added a charge of £12.50 per month making the outstanding £47.50. AVOID AT ALL COST. I had really slow internet with TalkTalk, so decided to pay extra for fibre. When you upgrade anything with this company, they tie you in for 18 months. Upgrading to fibre has done nothing for my internet speed. Speed tests show 30mbps, but pages still take ages to load and internet cuts off completely many times per day. Customer service is rubbish, even advising me to get a screwdriver and strip down my main telephone socket. I can't wait for this contract to end so I can leave. I feel like I have been robbed by TalkTalk. They really don't care about their shoddy service, just want your money.

I looked into getting service with talktalk. There were two requests that we had. 1. A 12 month contract and 2. Installations on Saturday. I asked this before discussing any plans, because I wanted to make sure this was fine before proceeding. On the Saturday installation, I was told it was not a problem. On the 12 month contract I was told no company does less than 18 months. So go with us and if you need to leave, pay the cancellation fee.
So I proceeded to go through the plans. Chose one. And once we were confirming installation times, I was told Saturday installations would not be possible. I said then I'll have to go with another provider, but they tried to persuade me that every internet provider uses the same service to book engineers and they do not work Saturdays.
Shortly after the phone call I found two other companies that both offer installation times that suit. And to my su
rprise, a 12 month contract.
Unfortunately, Virgin was the first of these providers and they did not provide services in my area. But they referred me to 'simplify digital' and now I've signed up to Sky without needing tp compromise any of my needs.
What I found extremely disappointing is that they tried to convince me they were providing a service which is standard and I would find no better. Better customer service would have been to tell me unfortunately they cannot fulfil my needs and all the best.
