After being a long suffering TalkTalk broadband customer we switched to Sky Talk and unlimited broadband. Wow, am I impressed. Firstly the level of communication from Sky prior to and during my migration, fantastic. Connection happened on the day as promised and line is still being tested for stability, speed at beginning was 4Mbps as Sky advised and each day it goes up a notch or two..now up to 14.8Mbps, a speed never seen on our line before. Looking forward to tomorrow to see if it increases further, already it's bordering on double what TalkTalk achieved when it worked. Even the call clarity on the line is better..no crackles like TT. Supplied Sagemcom router works great too with a better range than the range max netgear router it replaced. I can honestly say I am extremely impressed..and can find no room for improvement at all..first class!!

Utter rubbish, download speeds they quote are nowhere near to what i am getting. The connection drops out atleast 6 times a day for just a couple of seconds and when i contact sky thay give me the usual check list rubbish. Thay have replaced modem 4 filters still rubbish. They have no idea why it keeps dropping out, very very poor service.

wot can i say apart from utter rubbish after being convinced to change my internet provider by a sky sales door rep i was told the speed i should get complete lies sky dont want to know when you ring them they just tell you to do pointless tests web pages dont load up properly if they even load up at all never had this problem with my old provider, got to be the worst internet provider out of them all,ive had to resort to using my mobile phone as a modem as the speed with vodaphone is much faster 6.5 mb i would advise anybody thinking of changing to sky CAUTION STAY WELL CLEAR YOU WILL BE VERY DISSAPOINTED

Having been with demon for a number of years ,the max speed was 1.5 meg then they put on a download cap , so decided to change to sky unlimited , have to say its very cheap compared with demon and is truly unlimited , they stated a speed up to 3 meg ,from day one got 4meg and just recently the speed has increased to 5.5meg , so a very happy bunny .The supplied modem/router is not very good , the wireless signal is very poor , so now using a different modem/router.
The tech help is very patchy and l only call them as as last resort.

Broadband keeps breaking down and they're not even aware of it until you call them. Terrible Customer Service. Speeds are extraordinarily low. Take ages to fix. Absolute crap. Stay away!

Hi i have been with sky for 10yrs recently had my 1st hic-up in broadband service from them, they have sorted the matter out now,but i do advise speaking to sky customer solutions team instead of call center staff as they are mostly not I.T or broadband specialists,i am receiving the full 20meg as i only stay a short distance from exchange. I would say one incident in 10yr is outstanding very pleased with Sky...

Worst service ever. Staff put you on hold while they ask how to do job. Clueless! Speed and reliability no more than average. And don't try and leave!!! - they will continue to charge you you and refuse to disconnect broadband telling you only new supplier can do it. After 30 minutes on call (being charged) - magically they can do it!!

After some discussions with different Sky help centre staff over a few days my speed has been increased from avge 1.7Mb to 3.1Mb.
Line seldom drops.
Speed about best I'm going to get this far from exchange over copper wires.
Now that call centres back in UK I found staff very helpful but as usual some better than others at actually helping out.

Pretty poor. The service is slow. They once sent out an update which somehow managed to break my modem. The then sent out a disc to manually fix the update which didn't work, then they sent out a new modem which they wanted me to pay for. Eventually I got a new modem for free of charge but I was without any internet for 2 weeks and I didn't get refunded.
Every so often the service cuts out and customer services are pretty poor.

why has our internet been interrupted on many occasions in such a short period of time?.
why have we been informed that it is because of BT works?,it isnt,i have checked Why have i had to demand a managers call back within 24 hours.why did i have to contact the ombudsman?.would i recommend sky to anyone?,no i would not,i would however strongly recommend that they go elsewhere for their tv,telephone & broadband. 29july2011,our internet has been off for 10 hours, you keep saying that bt are working on the exchange, what did they do,knock the building down & start from scratch?.isnt it funny that when the internet is down, when i phone up it reconnects in seconds.you lot are taking the mickey! STILL waiting for manager call.I have written a formal letter of complaint to Mark Anderson asking him to investigate this matter & why sky operators consistantly fail to record notes on customer accounts.my broadband is still going off,as you are aware & have been for the past two weeks!

It all depends on who you talk to, how smart they are, and how complicated your query is.
Since joing in Feb 2010, I've 'earnt' over £300 in goodwill for this, that and/or the other issues with broadband. I've received BB and LR FREE for the first year due to issues and LR free for 6 months due to having 4 different routers since 2011, all fautly, all sagem.
It all depends on who you talk to in sky.

my daughter signed me up with sky hd package,2nd april 2011,on the 7th april, they connected the tv hd box,ok so far.then on the 18th april a bt engineer came to connect my phone line, just before he left he told me it will take 2 hours for the exchange to swop from cable to sky.By the next morning i still had no phone line.it is now the middle of may and i still have no phone also they cut off my tv package.after several phone calls on my mobile costing me well over £70 in credit, isent them a letter on the 9th may, upto now 16th may i still have had no reply or an explanation of why i can not get my sky hd package.i put in the letter that i wanted sky disconnected,so i could get back to normal.thanks for letting me tell my story.

After a few years satisfactory service and an excellent connection and download speed I am now faced with a pathetic 2-3 megs. A male service chap insisted that I check all my home phones despite my telling him that they were all disconnected and that I had been running my router via a filter direct to my master BT box; that I had changed cables and filter. the surly response from him "listen to me....". He expected me to repeat my test, using a mobile for him to call back. I had no mobile at hand so I gave up,told him I would seek another server.
Clearly Sky or BT had a restriction on download speed and I'm faced with a hesitant connection and a slow service for the princely sum of £15 per month.

Sky Broadband Everyday Lite has been fantastic! I moved to Sky from TalkTalk a few weeks ago. At TalkTalk the reliability was terrible. But at sky the speed is good enough but reliability is excellent. I was looking for broadband that wouldn't disconnect when I'm playing online video games, and sky were
perfect for me. I'm glad the reliability is good and I can make do with the speed.

From day one, had nothing but problems and slow speed. Line quality is perfect, only 1km from exchange. Sky connect is available only to people who live in an area where sky have to piggy back on bt equiptment. After 4pm, they cut the speed of the line down to 100k, not even enough to stream iplayer or connect reliably to xbox live. waste of £17 a month!

The staff in their call centres seem to have tried hard to fix the problems with my line, but since switching to them my broadband has gone from being "rock solid but a little sluggish" to "OK for a while, but sooner or later, totally useless". After escalating my problems, my connection was good for a while, but now it's heading for the toilet again...

Absolutely awful so far! Just decided to change over to Sky completely to include Broadband, phone Sky + & multi-room. What a mistake! Placed order but I could tell operator didn't know what she was doing. Claimed bad line and she would ring me back in 15mins - didn't! Rang again and found out order had not been placed. Went through it all again - sorted? 'I have your complete order and now will pass you onto the relevant department to process' So you can't do it then- 'No'. OK then, Do I have to go all through this again.'No, I will tell the details'
' Hello Sir, you want to add a package to your TV? 'No' I thought the other guy explained what I wanted? 'No, I can only add a package to your TV. But I want to reduce my TV package but want phone,Sky +, Multi-room & broadband also. 'I can only add a package and will pass you to those departments..'
Sky man turns up to install + & multi-room ..'Here to replace your old box with + box'. 'No' You should adding a + box & doing multi-room. He shows me his order - its wrong not surprisingly! HE IS EXCELLENT - THE ONLY GOOD EXPERIENCE SO FAR! He fixes everything as it should be. He was brilliant. After all this -phone has now supposed to have been changed from BT & TV ok.Notification from BT, broadband ends 18th Jan' Sky broadband account starts 19th Jan. Checked progress of Sky account. Router not yet dispatched! Now it doesn't take many brain cells to work out that if one is leaving one supplier and giving your business to another that there should be some continuity here! Apparently the router only gets ordered after the phone is changed over from last supplier! Rang Sky and was 'hung up on' by young lad who didn't want to deal with it - suddenly pretended it was a bad line. I had not been rude to him at all.Rang again and explained issues. Laura(?) very nice and helpful. Said she would ring back shortly - didn't, but to her credit did call back about 4hours later. Said she had to cancel order & re-order router again but it still would be 3-5 days(working days(?)- then its a week) If I had known how bad this experience was to prove then I'd would've stayed with BT.
Only time will tell if the broadband service is as good as some of the comments I have read about. So far SKY - the whole sorry tale has been totally unsatifactory!!!

Just recently switched to Sky from Plusnet.
Had a great services with Sky before but was unable to get it in my new area, switchover took less than 10 days and now I'm flying.
They've beat all other suppliers hands down, including BT at £12.50 a month and a 16.5 Meg connection (which is way above the national average & double what I had with Plusnet) I'm a happy chappy! lol
Would recommend for any area! Unless your lucky enough to get cable or fibre!

Had Sky broadband since christmas last year first few months were ok not bad speed but for last 6 months i have had problems with noisy phone line limited or no service on my broadband and nobody at sky is capable of sorting it out. I would not recommend them to anbody go with virgin sky has very poor service no customer service skills and they dont care once they got your money. I cancelled my direct debit and now putting my Brand New HD Box EBay to get back some of the costs of phone calls and days off to sort this problem out.

I understood that we would not recieve high speeds in the area, but our options were limited at the time. However the exchange has just been upgraded to llu. Sky are selling the free broadband package broa to new customers in the town. I phoned to enquire when us (exsiting customers) were being offered this. I got 2 different answers. From cancellation department: 'sky had too many customers to advise and so would not do so'. This was refuted by the next lady in the broadband section, who checked my details and said that she would try to foce a migration, but after checking with someone else ,came back and asked if I was not happy that she checked 'cause it is sold out'??????????? Today it is still stated on all the checkers and comparison sites, that the package is available to this postcode!!!!The best that she could do was reduce my cost from £17-00 to £12-00 for 6 months
I will try one more time to speak with sky, before looking at alternatives!

Last 4-5 months the speed has been capped so dramaticaly that my broadband is pretty much unuseable between 5pm to 11.30pm/ midnight - average speed test = download of 0.23 mb/s - utter rubish - There should be a legal recourse to take Sky to task over mis-representation - how the hell can this be sold as 'Broadband'?? I might as well save £17 per month and go back to dial up...would be faster - I give up phoning Sky anymore -I might as well ask the cat..

After a brief "honeymoon period" after the switch to Sky on the promise of 2 Mb while paying for a 8 Mb service, the service was satisfactory. operating at 1.2 Mb. As time passed the speed precipitously declined to approximately 0.3 Mb and the connection would cut for sometimes hours at a time. After contacting customer service, the service was restored to a stable 0.8 Mb. After a few days, it had degraded as before. Another complaint again restored it, and I was given a set of tests to perform. After carrying out the tests, before and after a further decline, the results were sent to the address given. The reply was simply "well it is fine now. Happy to be of service".
Assumedly, the solution to my problems is "complain every 4 or 5 days to get half of the estimate given, then lose it again"

Sky Broadband in Central London is dismal at best. Due to the high volume of usage at exchanges and them being oversubscribed, Sky fails to get a.) ay respectably fast speed in current times, and b.) and consistency in speed. Furthermore, as Sky does not have their own equipment the exchange, Sky Broadband users are forced to pay higher costs... obscene due to the substandard service provided. I really do regret taking up a contract with Sky, something I only went for due to their high standard television service (which I cannot faulter on price or quality whatsoever). It's a shame that as a relatively new entrant to the broadband market, they cannot apply some of their expertise to this industry. Overall rating: Dismal.
