Speed was OK but when terminating contract, account was closed so couldn't access any invoicing details then got threatened with debt management agency because of unpaid monies. Disgusting !!!!!

It took them 3 months to set me up (continually contacted them). The broadband was slower than previous provider. Broadband connection was down a number of times. Also took a payment after I had cancelled and I am still waiting for a refund.

Extremely poor service, I won't be back.

Dreadful service worst 12 months contract I have ever had. Invariably could only get the half the minimum advertised rate - less than 0.5 mb/sec. Despites numerous complaints and commissioning my own telecom engineer to pin point the problem for Plusnet. It was easier for them to constantly ignore the problem. Thank goodness I’m at the end of the contract and have signed up with another provider – can’t be any worse and hopefully they will take customer service seriously.
Finally I have sought out a review site to at least make other think twice about what to expect from Plusnet.

    Hi
have now been with plusnet for 3 months following o2 sale to Sky. Did not move as had terrible service from sky.Speedy set and getting 19mbs. The only compaint I have is that at busy times there can be a long delay in getting through to customer service, though it is free unlike some. When you do get through very helpful and technical issues dealt with promptly

I took a monthly contract where I need to pay around £55 including 1st month charge. Till 2 months, there was no service provided. I wanted to cancel my account. They asked for £23 pounds again. Remember, there was no service provided. I dont want to pay this amount as it is clear that these guys are bugging money without providing any service. There was a dispute for 2 weeks. At last, they closed my account saying that I dont need to pay anymore. But again, after 1 month, I received a letter saying that I need to pay £23 or else will be sent to debt recovery. It is getting horrible. Dont go with this money sucking guys.
Also, hate their customer service which will take atleast 30 minutes to get connected. Horrible.

don't waist your time or money swapping to plusnet NOTHING BUT HASSLE AND PROBLEMS FROM OCTOBER 2012 WHEN CHANGING OVER TO PRESENT MARCH 2013. Didn't bother to advise us of the answer machine (nor ask) engaged tone and an answer machine of our own which didn't work for over 4 months. it took constant emails and complaining about the telephone and internet going off and explaining about engaged tone and a BT ENGINEER TO COME OUT AND FIGURE IT OUT. CANNOT GET THROUGH TO ANYONE TO SPEAK TO ONLY SALES. SO FREEPHONE OR NOT, UNLESS YOU HAVE ALL DAY TO WAIST YOU DON'T GET THROUGH.

NEVER EVEN BOTHERED TO CONNECT US AFTER CHANGING OVER (I had to call them for this and managed to get through at about 4.30am)

THEN THE ROUTER YOU MUST HAVE WAS FAULTY - SO HAD TO WAIT EVEN LONGER. HAD NO INTERNET FOR OVER 5 DAYS.

MARCH 2013 CONSTANTLY COMPLAINING THEY PLACED AN INTERLEAVING THING ON THE PHONE WHICH SPEEDE THINGS UP BUT THE CONNECTION IS GOING OFF AT LEAST ONCE A DAY AND ONE TIMES FOR OVER 5 HOURS

COMPLETE WAIST OF TIME AND JUST NOT A SERVICE THAT I WOULD ADVISE YOU GO TO THE HASSLE OF CHANGING OVER TO, JUST TO FIND YOU HAVE EVEN MORE CONSTANTLY ONGOING PROBLEMS THAN YOUR LAST ISP (I KNOW YOU MAY THINK THAT ISN'T POSSIBLE) BUT JUST SWAP TO PLUSNET AND YOU WILL FIND IT IS !!!

Well I have not even got connected yet and even being a pensioner has not helped with getting my phone connected until two weeks after my other contract ends. It was the same day on the website but when the order came through it was two weeks later.

Have to say that after around 9 months with them in this property and over 7 years in total (previously in N Wales, in 2 houses), I've had brilliant speed and excellent customer support when doing the transfer from there to here.

Speed at old location was around 2.5 Mbps for most of 2011, only 160 kbps and down to zero for 6 months in 2010 (until Openreach replaced the dropwire from the gutter into the house, as the insulation had perished). Speed did drop after the 'upgrade' to ASDL 2+ at the exchange (because I was 5 to 6 km away and attenuation was just over 60 dB, at the kind of level where they might have refused service back in 2001/2).

Can see that there are some who have had long running and serious problems and would only suggest using the USENET facility (in the Member Centre panel) to post a ticket number on the customer-service newsgroup and one of their specialist team who monitor newsgroups and a few other web sites may be able to move you from unhappy to happy, and might even be able to reduce cost for a while as a measure of goodwill.

I would not recommend PN to clients (and my own family) if I didn't have faith in the support and customer service staff, and no, I'm not employed by them, but just another (happy) customer, planning to switch from the Extra (60 GB/month) to Fibre Extra (250 GB) once my exchange is upgraded in December.

Having read a series of reviews about BT, Talk Talk and Plus Net, it's clear that every provider has at least some dissatisfied customers. I've been with Plus Net for nearly 10 years and their reliability and technical support has been superb in that time. Yes, we drop the connection now and then, but it looks like that's universal. I'm only considering a switch to get a better combined TV and broadband deal - as I read these reviews, I'm thinking change might be the worst thing I could do. Why mend something that ain't broke?

Old fashioned very poor speeds, often reduced to similar to the old dial up speed. Used to be much faster but has slowed down in recent years.
    Thinking of switching to Virgin.

Regretfully I am obliged to award PN one star for all aspects of what it laughingly calls service. They deserve negative ratings all the way through. Appalling company with arrogant unhelpful support staff who couldn't give a toss about customer service. Now moving on after months of trying to resolve a problem. Good bye and good riddance to the most vile company I have ever dealt with.

I have been with Plusnet over 10 years and can say they have got gradually worse as they got bigger.

There finance section hasn't got a clue. At present they are billing me for a service i do not have. They have charged me twice as much for the service amount I am listed to pay and they are holding onto my money.

They claim honest broadband from Yorkshire. As far as i am concerned there is nothing honest about this company.

I have found PLUSNET to be excellent overall - their tech support and call centres are in Yorkshire. They offer a variety of packages to suit all requirements/budgets.
Also you can have broadband only or include home phone in your package. I have not had any problems with them.

Please add my user name; woodburn636 as a referer when you sign up and I will receive a small discount and you will receive excellent broadband and can then go on to refer others.

Used to have a top class service on the up to 8Mb product. Reliability now very poor on up to 20Mb. Many disconnections and told that 3 disconnections per day acceptable. Speed is satisfactory.

the worst mistake i ever made, 6 weeks of really poor service & call centre that's always putting you on hold. if you think it's too good a deal it probably is. think about the £65 you'll have to pay to get your mac code, expensive mistake which left me unable to afford any broadband service.

Was with them for two years after leaving BT due to enjoying a month of downtime plus a customer care package earlier than Neanderthal.

All fine so long as nothing went wrong - then Plusnet show their true 'colours' - "Tech Support" insist on you first purchasing new router, line filters and even suggested I should cart my systems 'to a neighbours' to prove it all worked BEFORE they would actually "DO" anything ! A useless set of plonkers - AVOID AT ALL COSTS is MY opinion !
If you have to deal direct and handle all your own repairs, then you may as well cut out the "Plusnet Middleman" and deal with BT !
I live in a small village away from a large city environment, so BT with all their vexatious "terms and conditions and exclusions running to 80 pages of microprint apply" and a "Helpdesk" in India can sometimes actually be the only option.
The only "good" thing about Plusnet was the MAC code to LEAVE !

On the face of it the speed is better than I was getting with Orange, which was barely over a dial up connection.
The increase in speed with Plusnet is fairer but when I see adverts ofr speeds of up to 20mb, I feel a little cheated!

This is an absolutely terrible broadband service provider! I was shocked at how poor all aspects of the service is. From customer service where they did not even run routine tests to check what the problem was, and led to us having to repeatedly call up and not having internet for the 1st 3 months we were paying. The broadband keeps dropping out and is unbelievably slow - I paid for 20mbs not 60kbs! So far we have only had ONE week of decent service in the 5 months we have been paying.
I am unfortunately stuck for another 7 months a I foolishly took out a contract for 12 months.
DO NOT TAKE THIS SERVICE PROVIDER!
Pay a little more for much better service.

Was with Sky Broadband who advised I couldn't have more than 8Mb connection. Checked the BT Exchange who advised I could get upto 15Mb. Looked at Plusnet who advised that I could have 12Mb for £11.99 which has saved me £6 per month and almost doubled my connection speed. At best, I could only average 4-6Mb with Sky. I'd strongly recommend that people check-out Plusnet as they're realy good.

I would not give PlusNet any stars at all, but your rating system insists on providing at least one.

I regret taking out a subscription to PlusNet. It is not broadband as I recognise it. Snailband would be a fairer description. Some of my dial-up subscriptions in the 1990s were faster.

It takes up to a minute to load a simple web page. Ditto with opening emails. Opening even small attachments on emails can take even longer.

The same machine and everything else worked perfectly fine with Tiscali and even better with BT Broadband.

I have the impression PlusNet is working on the remainder bandwidth of a larger supplier.

However, notwithstanding the foregoing, I must stress this is only my personal experience. Other customers of PlusNet may be more fortunate. There are local idiosyncrasies with every broadband supplier and none is anywhere near perfect.

The broadband never worked. It's really cheap, but you get less than you pay for.
Its always going down and the speed at nigh times goes no further than 800 kbps sometimes when you are lucky it comes up to 2000, but this happens on 31st of February.
When you call the support they say that is fault of the computer, the socket, the filter, the TV, the weather... every time is a different and also very creative excuse for the broadband that not works.
If you like to suffer, please sign up with them, they really don't give a s... if you are getting a good service or not.

Speed can fluctuate but that is more a fault of the Openreach exchange capacity always at maximum than Plusnets fault. Lost a point on customer service if only because first line do not always listen to a technical report but then I am a telecoms engineer so that is not necessarily fair, second line are very clued up and on the ball.
