I just ordered the post office broadband and was giving a date and when they came they told me because I live in a block of flats I need the electricity key but when I placed my order no body told me anything about a key and it's not my line of work so if u live in a flat make sure u get your housing association to get u access to the electricity key because this team do not tell u what is required and now I have been left with no wifi and no body bothered to call me and arrange to deal with it I was left basically woundering what to do I just called them and it's a day later already and asked for them to call me bk because why should I waste my time and credit but no body called me bk just shows what kind of of service I will receive.

When I moved from Dorset to Sussex I kept my phone account active as, to start with, I was still visiting my old flat.
When I finally came to close my account at the start of October I went onto Fuel broadband website and discovered they'd sold their telecommunications business to the PO; this was the first I knew about it. I then checked my bank statements and discovered the PO were charging me nearly double what FB had been. Not a nice way to discover my telephone provider has been changed
I finally found some emails from the PO in my spam folder; I now had an account number for them. I E-Mailed them requesting my account be closed, they told me I have to ring up to close my account and that they won't close it till I ring; surely it's not legal for them to blatantly ignore my instructions. I finally got a cancellation order put on my account today though 14 days seems like a long time to take to cancel an account; maybe 14 days is how long it takes their slow internet speed to deal with the cancelation request.

Fabulous broadband and router: speed same as many other providers; router has no issues in a crowded WiFi area (lots of flats).
The whole experience of managing the account is poor, however. No account password set up on sign-up (why?) nor sent in the post, have to phone and sit on hold, account portal is slow, SafeGuard portal is down so you can’t administer website access, have to manually select a post office email address from a drop-down on login (so your browser cannot just auto fill and if you haven’t realised it tells you your password is wrong/been forgotten). In short, I’m pleased but the whole customer experience would benefit from improvement: come on Post Office...fix these things and you’re onto a winner.

I'm sorry I can't give NO stars. I've been a customer for years and they were good. However late last year (2014) something changed. Constant drop-outs, evening speeds below 1 and customer services who (when you can get through) blame you for the poor service. It must be your PC, your wires, something inferring with the router.
BT open-zone checked it out and there was no fault in my home, so I didn't have to pay the £140 as threatened. This is simply a capacity issue. The ISP market is designed to fail. Post Office rent the lines, servers, exchange capacity from BT - whose customers get a good speed, while PO customers get below 1.0. Anyone smell a rat.
There is some internal issue with the PO broadband at present and their customer service has now fallen to a level no money-paying customer should have to tolerate. So on balance, they used to be good, but now they are unable to provide a decent service - so for the avoidance of disappointment and stress - do not opt for Post office HomePhone and Broadband

Echo all the bad things people are saying, I just wish I had read these reviews first. Here is the letter I have just sent to them:
20th March 2019
Ref:
Dear Sir or Madam
I am writing to cancel the contract I have with you for the following reasons:
- The engineer installed the new line on March 14th but was unable to complete the job as he was not qualified to do it. An Open Reach engineer came to complete the job in the afternoon but was unable to do so as there was some problem with it. He returned with a colleague the following day and they both spent all morning on it.
- I had no idea if they had fixed it so rang your company to find out. I was told that another engineer had to come to my property on March 20th to fix the problem, and this he did.
- The box that had originally been fitted was the wrong one as it contained both a jack input as well as a phone one. I had connected the router as per the instructions sent to me, ie via a broadband filter. Apparently this was wrong as the router needed to be connected directly through the phone socket, specifically without a filter
- However, this meant that the system went ‘live’ finally, after waiting almost a week for it to do so.
- I then found that although it was connected I was prevented from accessing various sites due to the safeguard settings, which I had not requested. It said I could change them through the settings section on my account.
- I then tried to do this but could not access the account because I had not been sent an account number, username or password, despite being told in my welcome letter that these would be posted and emailed to me. I fail to see how both could have been ‘lost in the post’
- I then rang you, yet again, and was given a password which turned out to be incorrect. At this stage I had had enough and asked to be transferred to the department dealing with cancellations.
- I was left in a queue for far too long and so decided to try again and hope for a different operator to give me, hopefully the right password. I was then given the same password but told to wait 15 minutes to try it, for some reason. I did this but was not surprised when this didn’t work either.
- I then decided to try one more thing and entered the ‘lost password’ part of your system. This asked for various details, which I gave, before telling me ‘we cannot complete the operation because ‘your secret question and answer have not been set’ . How am I supposed to set a secret question and answer if I can’t even access the account?
Sadly, I am all too used to suffering incompetence with companies such as yours, and invariably the larger the company the worse they are. However, I can’t remember ever having to deal with a level of incompetence such as this.
Needless to say I want to have no more to do with you. Please refund the charges you have taken from me to date and mark the contract as cancelled. I have cancelled my direct debit.
I really do not appreciate so much of my time being wasted like this
Yours faithfully

Recently service failed entirely, mainly due to a fault in network from 2012 never rectified by BT which caused very much noise on the phone line and erratic broadband. Customer service, in Scotland I believe so no language problem, handled my complaint ccompetantly and soon raised a ticket for faults to be handled by BTOpenReach. A day or so later, I was visited, by appointment, by a BT engineer who replaced the 50-year-old wiring and the master socket. Results: crystal clear phone reception and double the Broadband speed. An excellent outcome thought I.

Absolutely the worst broadband I have ever had - in line with many other reviews here, I have ha0d broadband at the same address with many providers, with consistently decent speed - UNTIL Post Office. Daily total disconnection for a few minutes at a time, unbelievably low speed (measured: 0.7Mbps).
They then wanted to charge me £30 to leave a couple of months early. The only reason this review isn't consistently 1-star is because a customer service agent was eventually able to help waive this charge - after which I was satisfied, but after two days solid of utterly atrocious speeds (websites failing to load, let alone streaming video) I decided to leave another review to warn others about this utterly terrible service, while I wait for my next router to arrive.
It just does not work as required, at all. It's like being back on dial-up. Avoid.

Whatever you do avoid these idiots. Bad service all round. I had to call an engineer four times then they tried to charge me £168 for replacing a wire which was outside my property and not my liability. To make matters worse, their phone operators don't know what they are doing and couldn't care less.

Utterly disgraceful service. Nothing but problems since day one. the technichal helpling is a joke as the staff have little or no training. They constantly mess up bills and take more money then meant to. And to top it all off, the internet provider isnt actually Post Office at all it's Talk Talk. If they had been honest about this from the start I wouldn't have joined them.

DON'T Get Post office broadband it's not worth the hassle, call after call didn't resolve the problem even when i quoted the consumer rights act 2015 that in my opinion they were not providing service with reasonable skill and care and that, the contract was unfair and that, that meant i could cancel the broadband contract with no penalty but they were not interested so i am faced with a penalty of £110 pounds to cancel the contract. I repeat DO NOT SIGN UP WITH POST OFFICE BROADBAND It's not worth the hassle

8 days after my go live date still no broadband (thank goodness for tethering)still not got my own phone number just one they give me. I have never spent so much time and money (over £20 so far) on the phone in my life trying to sort it out. I have never spoke to so many people and passed from person to person and department to department its The biggest mistake Ive ever made since the dial up days. And now i was told this evening someone will contact me as they cant put me through to the person dealing with my case/problem and all this hassle to save £1.90p per month ...

Changed my mum's Landline to P.O. because they had a contract without Bband pointed out that number was to stay the same since my mum has Alzheimers! They said it would be done but failed and now say they can't do anything. If a zero rating is possible they should get it!

The broadband from this supplier is acceptable for my needs, although I agree that for its monthly low cost, it's good value. I would recommend it for a one device basic user not doing a lot of downloading.
Good entry level broadband giving uunlimited data if you want it at up to about 8 Mb/sec. in my location.

Snail speed internet - like on the same level as decent speed dial up.
Upload images to Imgur or eBay takes a long time. Downloading through torrents seems good though, it's just HTML related stuff that takes ages, especially uploading. I don't have streaming TV or anything, so I don't need mega speed, but Jesus, uploading images and videos ... !
I think this is the cheapest broadband out there, but it's also very slow in comparison with BT, etc.

I shop around for Broadband every year when my contract is up. As a result I have been without 10 different providers since I have owned my own place. Never have I felt the urge to write a review. However the service provided by Post Office Broadband has been HORRENDOUS I feel compelled to right one. The service is so unreliable it has literally caused me to scream at my laptop or phone as the connection goes down twice a day.
The service I had with previous providers hasn't been perfect. But I would say the Post Office connection goes down twice a day on average. This causes problems such as having to wait 10 minutes for the connection to come back. This makes me lose connections to network drives when I work from home and I have to reboot. I have been cut off from conference calls. And online forms I have filled out online have timed out meaning I have to refill them out.
I will never use Post Office Broadband again even if they are by far the cheapest in future.
Only positive was the chap who set up my account over the phone was an extremely friendly chap.

I've had internet with several companies (talk talk, plus net, Skype..) but I never had a problem at all. Post Office has been a nightmare. I was promised a minimum of 5mbs but I'm lucky if I get 1.5mbs. Even my Amazon stick can't work on that speed... After 3 engineers coming to my house and about 20 calls - customer services said that everything is ok on their end and they couldn't do anything.... However, still couldn't connect and it was on and off all the time. After phoning twice daily to complain they allow me to go without paying the leaving early fee as a goodwill - however it was cos they couldn't provide service since fist day... Avoid this company...

Its not possible to give speed and reliability as even though the service was ordered a month ago I still am not connected.
I have poor mobile signal but when I do get through to someone they tell me that the problem is with another company and they don't know when it will be fixed. I have had them put the phone down on me on quiet a few occasions and no one seems to want to take responsibility. As an elderly customer I had thought that they would have considered the possible danger of not being contactable or being able to contact anyone myself.
I definitely do not recommend Post Office and am going to cancel my contract which I dont consider has begun yet as I cant use the landline.

Excellent price at 8pcm, plus 15 for line rental which is less than the line provider (BT) charges. Shows how much BT rip people off. Reliability is 100%, speed 6-8mb as I'm less than 1m from the exchange.
Package has got worse, as they've removed components such as free evening calls to landlines, free weekend calls to mobiles and some international numbers; they now sell this as a separate 5.75 add on, which is disappointing but at a total price of 28.75 would still be bearable, considering you're not financing a media scum mogul who (apparently) hacks murdered schoolgirls voicemails. And TalkTalk regularly have the worst customer service known, only rivalled by Orange & BT.
Post Office customer service is mostly good, although they did leave my 80 year old mother cut off for days, despite promising me that they'd get her reconnected within hours. That and the fact that they never even called me back to explain, when they'd promised to, means that they lose 2 stars and my respect. At least their customer service hasn't been relocated, a la Dyson/Orange/Sky, to a far flung place where you have problems understanding and being understood.

My PO broadband speeds were deplorable. Tests made using the PO recommended checker gave as low as 0.1. Totally useless. I stopped the bank standing order and found an alternative provider(Which using the same checker indicates 6 to 7) I have been harnessed by PO for money £272 +, threatened with bailiffs, had blazing rows. Finally they have withdrawn all outstanding charges. They now tell me that they have learned by their mistakes. Let us hope so for the next customer who is unfortunate, as PO states, to have an incompatible line.

Despite twice querying during mye transfer from Plusnet why there was a 15 day wait between telephone and broadband changeover I was not told that the service would be by a different line. They could then have told me the likely speed. I received 6+Meg from Plusnet. The speed PO quoted was 7-8 meg, I actually received 0.5! It took 3 days to get admission that this was all they could provide. They have also billed twice for the rental despite my warning they were duplicating! They say they didn't guarantee a speed. They are still quoting on their speed checker 7-8 Meg for my neighbour!

Under no circumstances consider the Post Office as your bro and provider.
I have complained several times regarding the download speed which I am receiving. It varies fro just over 6 Megabits during the night and early morning, to less than 1 Megabit at peak times !
I am unable to stream movies, watch catch up to etc.
I have given them 7 days to sort out or my contract will be cancelled.

Abolsutely disgusting from the Post Office. Poor broadband speed, phoneline keeps dropping out after 5 minutes and extremely rude and incompetent staff. I regret signing up to this and will be cancelling soon. The staff do not want to help in any shape or form and then when I insist on technical enginnner coming out to solve the issue they reitorate the fact that a £140 charge will be payable. Absolutely disgusting and will never be returning with these p***** ever again. Disgusted and livid and shame on all the employees I have dealt with particularly Lewis from preston technical department if that is his real name. PLEASE AVOID THIS DISGUSTING COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

They failed to live up to their extravagant claims about their broadband service, which was non-existent. It would take us 1/2 an hour to get on to our bank account then it lost the signal part way through the transaction. Trying to get on to any websites , say to look at holidays, was impossible. They claim download speeds of about 14mbps which is simply not true. On the tests they did on our behalf, after I complained, the speed was less than 0.5 MBPS. So they agreed to cancel the contact.

Disaster!
I should have gone live a week ago before the the very cheap looking router they sent was faulty. Spent an hour on the phone and they agreed it must be the router. Send me another then I said. Nice, policy is near the to do anything on the good live day, even though they agreed ed that the router was at fault. So had another hour on the phone having the exact same conversation. Eventually they agreed to send another router but it could take 3 working days to arrive. Bear in mind that this is the post office!
After a week no router so another marathon phone call. I'm told that they aren't sending a router but an engineer has tried to call me. I have no missed calls! I eventually realise I'm getting nowhere and ask to speak to a manager. I'm cut off!
Been trying to reconnect for 1 hour and 14 mins. "We are sorry for keeping you waiting, we will answer your call as soon as possible". What a big mistake I have made!

Dreadful. You are routed through the Post Office server meaning you are not connected to any web site if they don't have the bandwidth. You are 100% monitored for every browse. A truly awful service. I will pay the termination fee to get out of this. It is THAT bad.

Was with PO for phone line. When 12 month free offer came up for broadband I called them. They checked my area connection=great. Sent router (idiot proof) set it up. Online. Not had ANY issues with speed or connection. (have waited a couple of months, still not dropped in anyway) Only thing is password given is wrong for new email, cant access my account online. Called for new password, got in, then next couldnt. Havent been anle to access post office email since. However everything else is fine. I would say call them, no complaints here.

My parents got this last year, didn't have much trouble, only issue being the router provided. I've never used stock router these internet companies provide you with as they not top quality. Always bought my own. We couldn't get more than 8mb in our area but didn't experienced any issues. Like I said never use stock routers provided as they never can handle the load of multiple devices. Have moved and trying this this year with the Post office again so finger cross it all goes well.

As a broadband provider, utterly shocking. I'd seriously recommend to avoid. One android device is all it can cope with before a meltdown occurs. This was recommended to me and I'd never recommend to even my
Worst enemy. I do understand that the post office is trying to diversify to keep up with modern demand, but reading other reviews and based on my own experience, you've got it royally wrong here

Awful. Broadband connection kept dropping out. Also, they don't contact you when you are out of contract, you just get a nice surprise when your bank statement arrives. Then, when you change broadband providers, they first send you a snotty letter, and then a bill!
Don't go there!!

Moved from BT as thought a better deal for unlimited broadband. Speed is very slow and I keep getting disconnected. Cannot access my account on line by my IPad as I do not have adobe flash player installed! Why do I need Adobe when all I want is to access my account and go paperless etc. Would not recommend and will change provider at end of contract
