Possible downsides

Do not go with them. You will regret it. They tell you different things, The internet is super slow and when you cancel it and provide proof they tell you nonsense on the phone but don't actually do it. We have complained several times every time they tell you different things and after months not being with them they still charge you and on the phone says that is not even your last bill. We only been with them for 2 weeks and didn't receive the fast internet we paid for. You will be blocked from our credit card.

Please read this and don't make my mistake of joining them. If you have a fault you will be stuck, stressed and spending all your spare time phoning them up.
All phone companies use Openreach lines, and VM use their own lines, so whoever you go with will all use the same lines which produce same speeds. Go for a company who are very good at fixing faults because that is where this company is lacking.

-Had no WIFI for 15 days out of the 20 days I have been using their service.
-Had a seriously up and down connection during the 5 days it did 'work'
-Engineer did all he could over 1 wk ago, wifi still broken and said that it's on them to resolve the remaining issue
-They are closed weekends. Despite my connection going down Friday even when closed, was told they could only refund me for no WIFI from the day I reported the fault.
-They refuse to give me refund until the fault is fixed, so in meantime are taking full payments while I have to spend £25 on EE data to tether from
-despite having depression and severe physical health issues, paired with the fact I've been offline for over 2wks of the 20 days I've been online, they won't terminate me from the contract.

For those who want more details:

I've only been online with them for 20 days. After going live, the broadband has been so awful I've had absolutely no WIFI connection for 15 full days; even after an engineer was called out to have a look.

So, since going live on December 29th, the broadband has constantly disconnected, requiring me to lose pages/re-login for my work. This has had a negative impact on my work. On January the 31st the WLAN and DSL lights on router went blank. In other words, could not pick up on internet at all. As the offices were shut, I rang them on the 4th and explained the issue. I also asked if I could get a refund for the days it hasn't been working. The guy said I could only have a refund from the day I reported the fault. I explained they were shut, and I asked if they have a record of when I was online because obviously, it will show when my internet went down. Apparently they 'can't' see this, which is a joke. The engineer who came over on Jan 11th (yup, I had no connection for those 11/12 days), showed me a device with a graph detailing the drop outs/dates they happened. He explained that my provider can definitely see this too. So basically, they're either dishonest or completely ignorant. The engineer somewhat got it working again for about 2 days, but like before, internet consistently disconnected. He told me he did everything he could, but that it was up to the provider to sort out the issue on their end.

After finding the time I called them up on the 13th, to explain the fault was still there. However, the guy over the phone told me to switch router off for 30 min so he could do a test. I did, when I turned it back on the router had the same issue of no WLAN or DSL light. I phoned up to explain that it's suddenly unable to to pick up connection at all, even with plug directly into the line without the cover on (which is meant to be the best connection you can get). I was asked to do a speed test because the line supposedly had 'no faults'. I explained that I could not access the internet to carry out a test. Anyway, they just said they'd pass it to the fault team. I phoned up over the next couple of days to explain that I seriously need WIFI, I was advised to do a speed test again (absolute joke). So I've now been offline for an additional 5 full days. That's 16 days spent offline.

I asked to leave the contract without any fees since my mental health is seriously suffering. I have also spent £75 on EE add-ons to tether from my phone. I also asked for a refund for what I've paid the first time I had faults, but they told me to wait until the fault stopped happening so they could calculate. In the meantime they happily took the full bill out of my account.
Fortunately for them, the fault is still persistent, so they are continuing to receive my full payments, despite the fact I am having to pay for EE data to substitute the lack of WIFI.

In addition, when I joined the lady on phone was dishonest about how many weeks (3) it will take to install, knowing that I needed to be up and running by at least around 2 weeks. I could have gone with another provider if she actually told me about them taking 3 weeks after hearing my concerns.
Just an outright disgusting company.

Where do I start well I've rang italk up about moveing my services to a new address as I wanted to keep the broad band with them but unfortunately I was told they couldn't provide the services where I'm moving to so they told me I would have to pay an early termination fee as I'm still in contract with them but I stated that it was them that terminated the contract not me but they said I had to pay it as it's my fault so I cancelled my DD and only yesterday I noticed on my on line banking they set up a new DD with out my permission I've emailed them but no response from them iv informed my bank and notified the police and now they are looking in to it for me so there for any body thinking of going to italk I'd think twice as they are the worst company iv ever had any dealings with so good riddance italk mere again

Can honestly say these guys are the worst provider i have ever dealt with, was with them for 8 months and over those 8 months i can say collectively i had about 1 months internet. Its laughable once i phoned up to say the internet is working but not the phone and a manager who i was talking to said she was suprised i had internet because on her side it showing as being down. There was never a period for a day where i could say i had full coverage after months of complaining and sending emails and being dealt with by 2 different manager its the worst providers. Dont get me wrong the customer service wasn't terrible just internet and phone service is diabolical. What upset me the most is i cancelled my service and they have the cheek to send it over to debt collectors saying i owe them

If it seems to be good tobe true then it likely is too be good to be true.
I thought i bagged a good deal with fast fibre broadband, but oh no,this is THE most incompetent broadband company.
Customer service staff are miserable and it really does come across they are working from home because some of them answer the phone like you've interrupted them.
Processing is a joke. Today i received a letter for £65 bill for early termination of contract. This transpired whilst in my cooling off period and their diabolical service, i was shopped around for another quote. I told iTalk they then offered me a good deal and rectified the issues.
I believed what i was told and subsequently cancelled the other service a month ago. iTalk then said they are UNABLE to cancel it their end so instead of dealing with the technical issue they have sent me a bill.
Logic? None
I phoned customer service twice today. Nobody can tell me the timescale for a call back.
As soon as my contract ends i shall NOT be renewing it with iTALK. I may well have to pay more to another provider but iTALK are driving me insane!!!

italk Broadband Buyers Guide - Is italk right for you?

Can I get italk Broadband?

italk Broadband use the Openreach network to deliver fibre access to their customers. This makes the service available to well over 90% of UK homes, with only the most remote areas not covered.

For standard broadband, italk primarily use Vodafone's network. Coverage for this is a lot patchier. It's available to around 60% of the country, over 16 million homes, mostly in major cities and towns. If you aren't located within the coverage area, you won't be able to get their service.

Use our postcode checker to find out which of italk's broadband services are available where you live.

What packages are available?

italk offer three broadband packages. One is a standard broadband service, and the other two are for faster, fibre deals.

These are the three italk broadband deals:

  • Unlimited Broadband - unlimited standard broadband, with speeds averaging 10mb
  • Unlimited Fibre - the entry level fibre deal, offering average download speeds of 35mb and impressive 9mb upload speeds, completely unlimited
  • Unlimited Superfast Fibre - italk's fastest package, with 53mb average download speeds and 18mb upload speeds, completely unlimited

All of these packages come on a 24 month fixed price deal. While this is a long term commitment, the promise of no mid-contract price rises does give you the security of knowing exactly what you'll be paying for the next two years. There's also no activation fee.

You can add a call package to your broadband deal if you need one. Your options are for unlimited Anytime Calls, unlimited Evening & Weekend Calls, or cheap International Calls priced at 3p per minute for 21 countries. If you don't need a calls bundle you'll only pay for the calls you make.

Remember, though, that these are only the average speeds achieved across all of italk's users - it isn't a guarantee of what speed you'll get. For every customer that achieves 10mb or faster, there will be a similar number that get something slower. italk does give you a speed estimate before you sign up, so you know what you performance level you can expect.

Which package should I choose?

The package that's right for you depends on your needs, and how many people there are in your household.

For many households, fibre broadband is a must. This will enable you to stream TV over Netflix or BBC iPlayer, or download on demand movies from Sky, for example. It'll also allow several people to watch, browse, game, and work at the same time without interruption.

The mid-range Unlimited Fibre package offers good average download and upload speeds, so should be fine for most households. It will allow several family members to all be online at the same time without your speeds slowing down.

For the most demanding users, the Unlimited Superfast FIbre package is a better bet. This will guarantee uninterrupted performance for large families, or if you want to stream video in 4K. You might also want the faster service if you work from home and are reliant on your broadband speed and connection.

The Unlimited Broadband package is for smaller households with lower internet needs. It'll allow TV streaming for one person, plus general use like web and social media.

Other than that, you need to decide whether to add a call plan to your deal. This is entirely optional. If you don't add one you'll simply pay for each call you make from your landline phone. But if you make a lot of calls - especially international calls - then it may be worthwhile adding a plan for a little extra each month.

Points to consider before you choose

  • How many people in your house will be using the internet at the same time?
  • Are you willing (and able) to commit to a two year deal?
  • Are you in an italk coverage area?
  • Do you want extras, like premium TV channels?
  • Do you make lots of landline calls and would benefit from an inclusive calls package?

Compare the italk Broadband deals in more detail.

What do I get when I sign up?

It's important to know what else you get when you sign up. This lets you budget for any extras you may need to add yourself.

italk is a simple, no-nonsense service, so you don't get much in the way of extras. The essentials are covered, though:

  • Free router - You can get connected straight away with a free wireless router worth £99.
  • Customer support - Solve any problems quickly through italk's free customer support service. It's available 9am to 7pm on weekdays, and 9am to 5:30pm on Saturday. You can also send an email and request a callback.
  • Pay as you go calls - Line rental is included, and call bundles are entirely optional. Under the basic service you only need to pay for the calls you make.

What are the benefits of italk Broadband?

Here are the main reasons why you should consider signing up to italk Broadband.

  • No price rises - All packages come with a fixed price guarantee. The price when you sign up is the price you'll pay for the entire length of your two year contract.
  • No setup fees or hidden costs - The only upfront payment is to cover the postage of your free router.
  • UK based customer service - Customer service is based in the UK and is available over the phone from Monday to Saturday, or via email. You can even request a callback so the company will contact you at a more convenient time.
  • Free router - You'll receive a free router worth £99 when you sign up.
  • Truly unlimited service - italk's three broadband packages are fully unlimited. You won't need to ration your usage, and you won't be artifically slowed down during peak hours (although speeds do still naturally vary depending on the time of day and how busy the network is).
  • Fast uploads - The fibre packages both offer impressive average upload speeds.

What are the drawbacks to italk Broadband?

Like the sound of italk? Here are some downsides to the service you need to know about before you sign up.

  • Long contracts - The contract length is two years on all of the broadband packages. There are no short term contracts available, so it may not be ideal for students or anyone in a short term let. If you prefer something shorter you should take a look at some of the other providers available in your region.
  • Limited support hours - Customer service hours are limited to 9am to 7pm on weekdays, and 9am to 5:30pm on Saturday. It's not available at all on Sunday.
  • Few extras - This no frills services comes with no real extras beyond the wireless router.
  • No TV options - Want to watch some premium TV channels? You'll need to get them separately from a different provider.
  • Basic router - The router is an older 802.11n model. While this should be okay if you're reasonably close, you might find that your internet speeds slow down the further you get away from where the router is positioned.
  • Not many reviews - You can get reassurance from other people's experiences of a provider. At the moment, italk has very few customer reviews you to check. Given the legnth of the contract required, this is something you may wish to factor in to you decision.
