Absolutely awful company AVOID!!! Every month I have to call as the internet is not working I have spent over 3 hours on hold this week with no answer. Then When I finally do get through they say there is no issue and are going to send an engineer out, which by the way may charge you if it's your fault! Of course it's not my fault!! What the hell am I paying for?? As soon as the issue is fixed I will be taking my business elsewhere. I will also be contacting the ombudsman. What a joke of a company they won't be around long so get out while you can. I have only put one star for each because you can't do a review with none.

Whilst the broadband was not bad and wouldn't complain. I signed up to origin and even called them telling them I was leaving the property a 8 months into the contract. They told me I'd need to pay, so I did. I ended up paying until the date it ran out for 18 months and cancelled with them. Now they telling me I owe them money even tho I cancelled. I didn't actually use the broadband for 10 months and still paid them as well that's the law and what was in the contract and obviously honoured this. After being a loyal customer and paying them all this time 6 months later they telling me I owe them 209 pound. Yeah that's right. This company is a con. You cannot end the contract apparently and now I have to dispute it whereby they don't actually get back to you and just get a debt agency company come after you even if you dispute it they'll come back after no investigation. Terrible company. Stay away from origin broadband and save yourself the hassle of them asking for more money and debt collection agencies, because they don't do their job and make their customers suffer no matter how loyal they have been to them!!

Horrible line and even worse customer service.
Very low speeds, half of what I was in my previous provider and constant fluctuations. They say 4mbps is normal and there's no problem having that. I think in the 90's we had better speeds than this.
If you dare call them, first you need to wait 45 minutes to get to their first line support, so that they can pass you to another team and wait 45 minutes. Things become dismal when they put you back and forth 4 or more times, each time being put in the bottom of the queue and go through verification every time...

Just want to do some update information to everyone if they want to join this boardband company, PLEASE STEP AWAY from this company. If anyone also suffer with this company, PLEASE REPORT their poor service to OMBUDSMAN. As Origin never give you compensation or service cancelation.
Also, they deleted the reviews on Google review more than 2 times this year. What they are hiding? As the reviews on Google review showed their star only have 1 out of 5 or less than 1.5 out of 5.
Anyway, please please do not use this company. It will just cause you a headaches. Since I have joined this company in Jan this year, I need to contact them 3 times per month as my internet drop out 2-3 time per day and the internet speed is up and down all the time. No improvement!!

Broadband completely unreliable, constant drop outs and very slow.
The billing... Oh god the billing. In 7 months we haven't had one correct bill and only one direct debit has been taken. I've never seen such bad systems or had so many problems so often elsewhere. If you value your sanity get your services elsewhere.

Frankly, poor in every aspect.
They don't give automatic compensation in line with Ofcom's guidelines, so why would you go with a company that behaves like that?
Poor speed of less than 10Mbps, drops out too often and takes a week before anyone fixes it.

Just been off the phone with them trying to cancel my service because I've had such a bad experience and was told I would have to pay for the rest of my contract and there was no way around it.
Don't sign up.
Don't try to call (you usually won't get through.
Company is too small to handle so many customers.

The worst broadband provider ever. Avoid if you can. I recently moved and my landline phone is not switched on. Have phoned numerous times to sort it out.Customer service is awful. They promise to resolve issues for you and they don't.some of the staff are awful and rude. sometimes you can't even get to speak to a supervisor.

I've read all the bad reviews but thought I should chine in to say we've been with them for a month now and everything is absolutely fine.
Switched from Plus.net paying £38.99 a month but now getting the EXACT same service from Origin for only £26.99.
No complaints, really happy with everything really.

Decent broadband service so far (after 3 months). I get the impression however they are very understaffed. Only had to phone on one occasion for an issue and took around 10 minutes to get help. The person who was helping was very good/helpful but ultimately unable to resolve the issue. Further technical help meant waiting an hour on the phone listening to music and still no answer so eventually gave up.
They also keep sending me monthly bills via email despite the fact that I paid the entire year in advance. When I called to inform of the error (about a 15 minute wait for an answer) was told it was a known issue and they were trying to resolve it. Same thing keeps happening however as I keep recieving bills each month.

Update on my review on 1/10/2023
After hours and hours on hold and hours and hours talking to agents in South Africa , the agent said she would cancel my direct debit so Origin could not take the £201.51 from my bank account , on 11/10 /2023 , as I had received little to no service and shouldn’t have to pay an exit fee.
Today when visiting my bank I was informed that my direct debit had been cancelled by the agent, but Origin had still collected the fee by setting up another direct debit, without my permission, under the name “Origin Communications”. Is this legal?

Customer service folks are polite, well mannered and competent, if you're lucky enough to get through to them. They simply seem overwhelmed; no replies to emails, hour-long waits for phone support even at 2am. Just been switched for free to fibre broadband, but they forgot to send me a new router (3 days no broadband), and now I'm connected the speed is inexplicably slower than the copper wire I had previously, and Origin seem clueless as to why. I'll probably switch back to Plusnet next month. Pity these comms companies always ensure there's a big gap between you broadband and line rental saver switchover dates.

Took out an energy , telephone and broadband package with SSE. They passed me to OVO. OVO then passed my telephone and broadband package to Origin. I received a letter saying my contract was up for renewal. I chose the middle option 2 , unlimited fibre plus. I was then informed that they didn’t have fibre in my area and my only option was unlimited broadband. The headache began. Wi-Fi practically non existent. Couldn’t use iPad ,Netflix or load and run any iPlayer.
Hours and hours of waiting on the phone. The agents I spoke to were very pleasant, no complaints there. One was based in England ,the others I spoke to, were in South Africa. In the end I had engineers from Openreach spend whole days testing my telephone points ( 3 whole days over a period 4 weeks) . The last 2 engineers advised that I needed fibre broadband to receive any signal and because this company didn’t have fibre in our area I needed to change my provider.
I then again phoned Origin and told them I would be leaving. Again I was hours and hours on the phone. Latterly I was told there would be an exit charge. I remonstrated that as they had not provided me with the service I was paying for,I was refusing to pay an exit charge. The agent then contacted her manager and came back and reported that they would waive the exit fee. I have now received a final invoice from Origin for £201.51 , of which £197.73 is an early termination fee.
I shall be making a complaint to the company and if they do not resolve this matter I shall be contacting the ombudsman services to resolve this matter. I have also been paying fees monthly for entertainment channels I cannot use , thanks to their poor investment in Wifi technology . Why are they allowed to charge fees for contracts they cannot deliver ?

Cancelled my service today and it’s the only time in 2 years I’ve managed to get through to customer services in a reasonable length of time. With fibre speed less than 0.5 MBps and virtually unusable I sacked it. Totally appalling ISP from day 1. Steer clear. Shouldn’t be in business.

Origin Broadband is not fit for purpose. It's the worst'service' I have ever encountered. I've soldiered on for 6 months, much to the amusement of my sons, who can't believe I stayed loyal for more than a week. Dire internet speeds, losing the internet several times a day, customer service that isn't a service... It's simply appalling. I can't believe they haven't been shut down. Avoid even if they stop charging, it's that bad...

I will NEVER use Origin again, even if it's free, even if they pay me to use it. It's not a service, it's a liability. It loses connection several times a day, ( in a good reception area ) Customer service is a waste of time. I won't bore you with the countless times my internet has failed completely and it takes hours on the phone to sort. I foolishly paid for a year, but I don't care, I've joined Sky today and Origin are history. Origin, your a RIP OFF and not fit for purpose.

The worst provider I have ever seen. Continuous disconnections, problems with accessing pages that are online and checked with mobile through data connection. Speed is poor compared to same package and other companies. Sorry but they do not worth my money.

Broadband connection and speed ok, but customer services and billing is shocking. My first bill has been a total shambles. Should have been £17.99, but came in at £35.98 (2months) it was then amaended to £8.00, allow how I have no idea. So the bill shows £8.00 and they take £63.96!! They can not explain this at customer services, and 4 days later the billing department have still not got back to me despite several phone calls. Have even emailed their CEO, Oliver Bryssau, who can't even be bothered to reply or get one of his team to call me back. I can now see why the cheaper broadband option is not always the best!! A new business shouldn't start up until they have everything in place, which clearly they haven't. I will name and shame out of frustration, so come on Tom and Ryan in customer services, where's my call back promised by the pair of you??? I'm still waiting! Stay away from this company in my opinion. I except errors, but not poor after care when the problem is on their side.

They never were able to connect their service -- excuse after excuse -- I cancel and still waiting for a refund - their customer service - seems they do not care or they are not motivated to address customer issues -- it was a simple enabling of the service and they could not manage it - sorry for them -- I can predict they will be out of business very soon

I don’t suppose it will make any difference to them actually fixing my outstanding issues, but I would like to help others making their future broadband provider choices and say this company don’t give a fig about customer service. Their technicians will say anything to get you to go away; I’ll report it to networks, I will assign it to myself so I can monitor it and the ultimate push off I will call you back when I am back in and then don’t.
Have just spent another evening trying to get through with no success. So go on Origin get in touch if you dare and let me actually provide you with some constructive comments on your service processes.

Speed = good
Reliability = good
Customer service = Meh...
There is an option to pay your bill if your debit gets missed, DO NOT USE IT! if you do, then a few days later (when you have funds to clear the missed debit) they take the bill again. and when you ask them to give it back "It will take 30 days"... by which time your next bill is due, this has happened to me twice now, DO NOT MANUALLY PAY ON THE SITE, just let them keep trying until you have funds available because you will not get the money back.

The service seems inversely proportional to the price you paid for the modem/router..I suggest you keep the power pack and chuck the rest. Think about this before abusing origin!

Avoid. Guilty of breech of consumer trading law: "False Free Avertising".
They advertise the router as included and "totally free of charge"... yet you will get stung with the follwing when you leave after your term completes.
Origin policies page :
"However our relationship comes to an end, we will need our modem/router back. So you will be required to return our modem/router to us within 14 days after termination/cancellation.
If you do not return our modem/router to us we will invoice you for each piece of equipment in the amount of £40.00 (including VAT). The modem/router will then become yours."

I was supposed to be connected on 5/12/16. Hub had arrived. BT were to connect line, they came as arranged. Told me line allocated was in use elsewhere so would need another engineer & that would be done in 24hrs. I am still waiting! Have contacted Origin customer service & I have to say they are more than helpful. They are unfortunately at the bottom of the line as far as BT/Open Reach are concerned! BT, TalkTalk, & whoever else come before Origin! Sad, but that's the way it works apparently.
I unfortunately will be requesting a refund for my paid up front & unused line rental.
(Please note: I already have broadband supplied by Origin for another property which I am more than happy with but already had a phone line in use)

I've been with Origin for 7 wks, mads 2 payments and received £10 back because I'm not online yet. I'm connected but get I access to the net. I've been thru the modem setup with them 3 times but still no access. I'm losing the will to live. I'll call them once more and give them 2 days to fix it. If they do t I'll block them at the bank and they can take their modem back. I'd advise others not to go near them.
